Sun Moon Lake

Sun_moon_lake_1 Sun Moon Lake is located in Yuchih, Nantou, and is the largest lake in Taiwan, at 748 meters above sea level. We can find in the middle of the lake the Lalu Island, which is the holy ground for the Thao tribe. It is not permitted to swim in the lake, but there is an annual 3-km race called the Swimming Carnival of Sun Moon Lake, which is held near the Mid-Autumn Festival, along with other festivities with fireworks, laser shows, and concerts.

Penghu

Dpenghu The Penghu Archipelago, Pescadores, consists of 64 separate islands in the Taiwan Strait, roughly midway between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland. Fishing is the major source of income, and a meal of fresh seafood is a must for visitors. The islands offer fascinating sightseeing, with ancient temples, farms, fishing villages, friendly people, fine beaches, and rugged coastlines. Fishing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, wind surfing, and boating are the major recreational activities in the archipelago. This Reserve protects a unique basaltic lava formation to the east side of the Penghu Archipelago.

Hsinchu

Hsinchu_1 Hsinchu is a center of hi-tech industry, located in the north-western part of Taiwan. Back in 1980 the Hsinchu Science based Industrial Park was founded, being a major boost for the economy and the city growth. Even though it's not a tourist city, it is a good base to explore the mountain areas of Hsinchu County, and offers great parks and scenic sites, like the Chingtsao Park, Hsinchu Botanical Garden with more than 300 examples of Taiwan's indigenous flora, and several Amusement Parks.
