The 800 mts hillside escalator starts from Connaught Road Central, runs to the Hang Seng Bank Building on Des Voeux Road Central, then passes through the Central Market and continues to climb past Hollywood Road to the prime Mid-levels residential district. The FREE ride from Central to Conduit Road takes about 20 minutes and ZERO effort!! It is of course the longest covered outdoor escalator system in the world, It took two and a half years and more than HKD205 million to build. But it was worht it don't you think?
Home to Stanley Market famous for the wide range of cheap goods such as Chinese souvenirs, rattan products, handicrafts and designer labels ,Stanley has more to offer than just shopping. It also boasts a relaxing beach, a plethora of waterfront restaurants and bars, and the 18th century Tin Hau Temple. Stanley Prison, which is still in use today, is also historically important, as this is where Hong Kong civilians were held during World War II.
Lan Kwai Fong was once an "expat hangout" but locals have gradually joined in the party fun. Located just above the Central business area, Lan Kwai Fong houses some of the trendiest pubs and entertainment hangouts in Hong Kong. Every year, during Christmas, New Years and Halloween, many people will dress up and parade through the streets, but whatever time of year, It's whouth any doubts the funniest place to see and to be seen.
One of Hong Kong's main attractions and one of the deepest container ports in the world, the harbour is shielded on both sides by stunning skylines—skyscrapers and Victoria Peak on one side, and the Tsim Sha Tsui shoreline on the other. Everyday, hundreds of ferries, tugs, junks, speed boats, and barges chug up and down the shore, carrying people and cargo, only pausing for typhoons. Best viewed from the famous Star Ferry (wich I have told you about before), or the Harbour Cruises.
This park houses a full-fledged amusement park with the popular Dragon Roller Coaster, Ferris wheel and other thrills; a marine park with a Shark Aquarium; and a Chinese cultural village with temples, pagodas and traditional street displays. A great way to start your vacations is by ascending via cable car to the headland and then spend the day in the amusement park!
If you haven't been to Victoria Peak, then you don't know Hong Kong yet! Every person in Hong Kong should go to the Peak for panoramic views of the city, which are amongst the most spectacular in the world, and at night you will claim OH MY GOD!. A walk around the Peak reveals further scenic vistas over the greener western parts of Hong Kong Island, and the viewing platforms on top of the Peak Tower and Peak Galleria are a must too.
Good Shepherd offers inter-denominational Christian services and Sunday School for children and young adults. The lessons and services are in English. Services take place in the Capital Club Athletic Center at 10a every Sunday. Special services are also held at Christmas and Easter. The Congregation places an emphasis on creating a close knit family atmosphere. Only foreign passport holders may attend although I am not quite sure why besides de obious language issue.
The big attractions at the Otani are the Japanese baths and sauna, which include various hot and cold pools, steam room and massage. Workout facilities include an 18-meter pool, an outdoor tennis court, three treadmills, one step machine and two stationary bikes. It's really more of a place to relax and soak those sore bones. Well worth a visit.
Constructed in 1984, this was the first large modern amusement park in Beijing. Surrounded by a beautiful lake, this park is fun for the whole family. Adults and children alike can pumper themselves by rolling on the 'Super Train' ride or by taking a ride in the 'Water Car'. Sometimes circuses and stuntmen give fantastic shows inside. Beijing's equivalent to Disneyland.
